Pastoral Care

I grew up as a Catholic, and my sweetheart Debbie was raised without God. In April 1974, she was pregnant with our third baby, and her mom showed up at our front door with four of her younger siblings, in elementary and jr. high school. Her mom was beaten for 15 years by Debbie’s stepdad, and her mom told us, “He pulled a gun on me, and I left, can we stay for a couple of days?” They stayed for ten months! I was 22 and daddy to 6 kids and another coming! Debbie and I had always been very close, but the strain was overwhelming, and we began to drift apart. Debbie started to visit our friends in Anaheim, both who had gone from being hippies when we knew them, to getting saved at Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa. Debbie began to attend their home Bible study, got saved, and brought me there and three weeks later, and I got saved!

We were at Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa for seven years with Pastor Chuck Smith (serving in children’s ministry) and then moved to Chino Hills next door to our best friends for the next 35 years, Jerry and Diane Miller. We were at Harvest for two years with Pastor Greg Laurie, then Calvary Chapel Chino Valley, Pastor David Rosales, for 15 years (serving in children’s ministry and the servant’s ministry). When the older kids all graduated from high school, we began to attend Calvary Chapel Chino Hills with Pastor Jack Hibbs and were there for seven years serving in as a men’s small group facilitator and in their servant ’s ministry. In 2005, we left Chino Hills to move closer to Jerry and Diane, and came to their church, in July 2005, Revival Christian Fellowship. In February 2006, I came on staff as one of the Janitors For Jesus and began helping in Pastoral Care. In August 2011, it was my incredible privilege, to be brought into Pastoral Care full-time! I became a pastor in February 2018 which continues to humble me. To God be the glory, great things He has done.
