TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON
“Jesus’ Resurrection and Promise” – Matthew 28:1-10,16-20
Welcome to Day 4 of Revival Kids VBS Re-Imagined! Today, our VBS hosts will give your construction workers the Blueprint for the day, including making an I-Beam puzzle for the craft. They will watch Day 4 of our animated Concrete and Cranes video, and then our Worship Rally Kids will get everyone up and moving and ready for the day.
If you have a Bible, turn to Matthew 28:1-10, 16-20: After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said.
They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” Matthew 28:1-10 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20 In today’s Bible story, on the Sunday after Jesus’ death, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James, went to the tomb. When they arrived, they saw that the stone had been rolled away and an angel was sitting on it. The angel told the women that Jesus had risen. He instructed them to go tell the disciples to meet Jesus in Galilee. Later the disciples traveled to Galilee, where they saw Jesus. The disciples received instructions from Jesus and the promise that He would be with them always! Jesus said He would die, be buried, and rise on the third day – and He did! Jesus told His disciples He would meet them in Galilee – and He did! Jesus promises to be with us always– and He is! Nothing is too small or too great that Jesus cannot keep His promises. Jesus proved His love by taking our punishment on the cross, and He promises never to leave us.
Today’s activity is CRAFT. Open the Bible to Matthew 28:20b, “And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Today, your child will make a puzzle that they can share with a friend to tell them about Jesus. Now, take out the step-by-step instructions for the I-Beam puzzle in your Craft Supply Kit. Play the Craft portion of the online video to watch Miss Cindy show how to make this craft.
Take out your Activity Book and turn to page 11, “Concrete Promises.” Support your child if they need help writing the promises and reviewing the different promises discovered. Pray together, thanking God that Jesus always loves us.
